In 1952, William Arendshorst, MD, began his practice of ophthalmology in Holland. A pioneering spirit, he brought modern cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, corneal transplantation, retinal detachment repair, and oculoplastic surgery to West Michigan. This same spirit continues today; John Arendshorst, MD, Eric Snyder, MD, and Benjamin Currie, MD have introduced state-of-the-art cataract surgery and Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS), posterior chamber lens implants, argon and YAG laser surgery, LASIK laser vision correction, and other medical surgical and diagnostic innovations to Holland. Tara Oosterbaan , OD and Rosanne Pruis, OD, joined the team providing medical optometric care in addition to working closely with Dr. Arendshorst, Dr. Snyder, and Dr. Currie. The Holland Eye Surgery and Laser Center is founded on astute clinical judgement and comprehensive, up to date medical knowledge. Dr. Arendshorst, Dr. Snyder, and Dr. Currie are licensed medical doctors and are university trained, board certified ophthalmologists.
